Ohio State Route 139 runs from New Boston to Jackson in the hills of south-central Ohio. The southwestern end in New Boston is at US Route 52; this is only a couple miles east of Portsmouth. From this southwestern terminus, Ohio Route 139 runs northerly, then easterly, then northerly again. Thirty-two miles after its inception, Ohio Route 139 ends in Jackson, making turns onto different city streets at a ridiculous frequency. The terminus occurs at Ohio Route 93 in downtown Jackson.
My photo of Ohio State Route 139 shows a southbound reassurance marker at one of the many turns it makes on the south side of Jackson, Ohio. This turn happens to also be the northeastern terminus of Ohio Route 776. Travelers turning off of Ohio Route 776 toward the south will see this sign as soon as the turn is completed. This photo was taken in March 2021, as part of the trip all around the southeastern quarter of Ohio. A rain shower had just completed when I snapped this photo.
