Indiana State Route 53 runs straight south from Gary to just outside of Crown Point, entirely within Lake County.  The highway is bookended by US Route 20 in the north, and an east-west segment of US Route 231 in the south.  This is in northwestern Indiana.

My photo of Indiana Route 53 is at the southern end, showing a sign assembly for eastbound traffic on US Route 231.  This is as US Route 231 leaves Crown Point to continue eastward.
