^Looking east from US Route 52 in downtown Brookville, August 2024.
Indiana State Route 252 is a designation applied to two different roads in Indiana. The western one is in central Indiana south of Indianapolis, from Interstate 69 and Indiana Route 37 in Martinsville east to Indiana Route 9 near the tiny town of Flat Rock. The eastern section of Indiana Route 252 runs east from US Route 52 in Brookville to a fork right on the Ohio state line, providing travelers a choice of Ohio State Route 126 or Ohio State Route 129. I don't know why these two unrelated routes couldn't be numbered as separate branches of Route 52 (one should be renumbered as "452").
A previous photo served as the focal point for this page, and as the source for the shield image that appears on the Indiana menu page. A new photo, shown next, replaces that previous photo, but the older photo is still visible at the bottom of this page.
My new official photo for Indiana Route 252 shows the end marker noting the western terminus of the eastern segment of the route. This occurs in Brookville, at an intersection with US Route 52, which is running concurrently with Indiana State Route 1. A drive home down US Route 52 from Cincinnati in August 2024 gave me the opportunity to stop and take this photo.
The older photo for Indiana Route 252 appears below.
This older photo for Indiana State Route 252 depicts one of the last westbound trailblazers approaching the western extent of this route in Martinsville. Interstate 69 and Indiana 37 catch the western end of Indiana Route 252's western section, just west of this scene. This signage is seen by those drivers coming off of County Road 275E. This photo was taken in the start of May, 2018.
