Interstate 24's northwestern 38 miles are in the southernmost part of Illinois. Interstate 24 enters Illinois by crossing the Ohio River northward from Paducah, Kentucky, and it heads northwest to join Interstate 57.
Between Interstate 57 and the Ohio River, Interstate 24 only has five intermediate interchanges. The list of these interchanges is as follows:
First of all, Interstate 24's western beginning is at Interstate 57, just north of Goreville, Illinois:
Exit 7 is to Tunnel Hill Road, which provides access to Goreville:
Exit 14, on the north side of Vienna (pronounced with a long "I", as in "vine"), is for US Route 45, and provides access to Vienna and Harrisburg...
Exit 16, on the east side of Vienna, is for Illinois 146, providing access to Vienna and Golconda:
Exit 27 is for Big Bay Road, which connects to the hamlets of Big Bay and New Columbia:
Exit 37, just north of the Ohio River, is a diamond interchange for US Route 45 between Metropolis and Brookport (I don't know what happened to the arrow shape that should be included in this signage shown below):
