Ohio State Route 678 is a shortcut between the Hocking Hills recreation areas and points to the north. The southern end of Ohio Route 678 is at Ohio Route 374, just north of the Hocking Hills State Forest and Hocking Hills State Park. From this southern terminus, Ohio Route 678 heads easterly and northerly through the hilly countryside for four miles. The route eventually ends at Ohio Route 180 a few miles southwest of US Route 33 and the town of Logan. All of Ohio Route 678 is in Hocking County, and it provides a slightly more direct alternative to the convoluted routing of Ohio Route 374.
My photo for Ohio Route 678 signage comes from the northern end of the route. As previously described, this northern terminus of Ohio Route 678 is at Ohio Route 180, several miles southwest of Logan. The aperture looks eastward at a sign with an arrow pointing to the right; it shows eastbound travelers that Ohio Route 678 is accessed via a right turn at this junction. This photo was taken in April 2021, as I was taking an evening detour around Hocking County before settling in at my hotel in Logan. This overnight stay was part of my trip to Virginia, using US Route 33 and other highways.
