^Looking south at Exit 46 to US Route 33 on the southeast side of Columbus, April 2021.
Interstate 270 is a full circuit of a freeway encircling Columbus, Ohio. It is a complete beltway stretching for 55 miles in circumference (perimeter?). Like many Interstate beltways around American cities, the urban sprawl has expanded out to the territory occupied by the beltway, leading to copious amounts of suburban traffic using Interstate 270. Interstate 270 helps serve lots of Columbus suburbs, like Dublin and Worthington. Interstate 270 also serves as an important intermediate between various radial freeways that poke inward toward the city or outward to other areas.
As with all of the Ohio Interstate pages, more information and a full exit list will come in the future. For now, enjoy this general information and a photo of the signage, in a similar fashion to how I do the state and US highway pages.
My photo of Interstate 270 signage in Ohio comes from the corner of Ohio Route 257 and Ohio Route 750, outside the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. This is near the town of Powell, just northwest of Columbus. Westbound travelers on Ohio Route 750 use this signage to understand that a left turn on Ohio Route 257 will help them reach Interstate 270. This photo was taken in June 2016 as I was leaving Columbus to head home.
