US Route 129 runs from Knoxville, Tennessee, south to Chiefland, Florida, a point on the Gulf Coast where the Florida panhandle transitions into the Florida peninsula. The northern end is an interchange with Interstate 40 in Knoxville, Tennessee. From there, US Route 129 runs through the Great Smoky Mountains and clips the southwestern corner of North Carolina before heading south into Georgia. US Route 129 runs south across what is roughly the middle of Georgia, but along a corridor through Athens that's east of Interstate 75. It passes through Macon, and continues southward on its path east of Interstate 75. Upon crossing into Florida, US Route 129 turns a bit southwesterly, crossing Interstate 75 to end at US Routes 19 and 98 in Chiefland, Florida.
My photo for US Route 129 comes from its interchange with Interstate 10 near Live Oak, Florida. The signage depicted is a guide assembly pointing west down the offramp from Interstate 10 eastbound. I took this photo in November 2016, during my detour to Florida at the end of my second Gulf Coast trip. Interstate 75 lies about ten miles to the east. Back to the nationwide main page.
