Ohio State Route 188 is a northeast-southwest route flanking Columbus well to the southeast, connecting Circleville, Lancaster, and Thornville. The western part of the route, west of Lancaster, is somewhat of a northern alternate of US Route 22. The western end of Ohio Route 188, in downtown Circleville, occurs at a concurrency of US Route 22 and Ohio Route 56. Ohio Route 188 actually heads north on the main northerly street out of town (Court Street), but on the edge of town, it turns easterly onto a different road. Entering Lancaster, it passes through an interchange with US Route 33 and converges with US Route 22. On the east side of Lancaster, Ohio Route 188 deflects northeasterly, through Pleasantville. The northeastern end of Ohio Route 188, in Thornville, is at Ohio Route 204, just west of Ohio Route 13.
My photo of Ohio State Route 188 shows a westbound trailblazer seen by those heading westward, away from the interchange with US Route 33. Travelers leaving US Route 33, or the city of Lancaster for that matter, will see this sign if their next recourse is to use Ohio Route 188 westbound. This photo was taken in April 2021, as I was using US Route 33 as a southeasterly route to Virginia. Back to Ohio Routes 100-199. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
