^Looking west from the bend in Iowa 333 that occurs just south of the route's northeastern end in Hamburg, February 2024.
Iowa Route 333 is a route far in the extreme southwestern corner of Iowa, connecting Interstate 29 to the town of Hamburg. Like many of the former Iowa routes numbered in the 300's, Iowa Route 333 is a tiny connector; however, unlike most of the routes in the 300's, Iowa Route 333 survived the decimation of nearly every route numbered in that range. Iowa Route 333 is only about a mile and a half long, and its western end is the interchange with Interstate 29 marked as "Exit 1". From that interchange, Iowa Route 333 heads east along North Street, which ironically runs into the south side of Hamburg. Iowa Route 333 turns northerly on Washington Street, and ends at a junction where US Route 275 comes from the east and continues north on Washington Street. That junction, at Washington and "E" Street, is central to the town of Hamburg.
My photo for Iowa Route 333 comes from the junction with US Route 275 in the heart of Hamburg, Iowa. The signage depicted faces east down "E" Street, which carries US Route 275 east. US Route 275 turns right toward the north; the aperture faced west when taking this photograph. This photo was taken in October 2021 as part of my trip across southern and western Iowa.
