^Ohio Route 11 gets started in East Liverpool, and it heads north with Ohio 7 and US Route 30, October 2022.
Ohio State Route 11 is a north-south highway that parallels the entirety of Ohio's border with Pennsylvania, from Ashtabula to East Liverpool. Curiously, all of it is freeway, including its passage through the Youngstown area. The northern end of Ohio Route 11 is an at-grade intersection, but that's just about the only at-grade intersection you'll find along the highway's mainline. That at-grade intersection at the northern end is with Ohio Route 531 at Ashtabula. As Ohio Route 11 gets started toward the south, it encounters a full interchange with Interstate 90. Ohio Route 11's next recourse is to pass through rural areas before reaching the Youngstown area. As it enters the Youngstown area, it abandons its current freeway heading to downtown Youngstown for a westerly jog along Interstate 80. As Interstate 80 reaches the northwestern end of Interstate 680, Ohio Route 11 is dropped onto another southerly freeway alignment bound for Canfield and beyond. Ohio Route 11's freeway takes it into Columbiana County, and even through the county. In southeastern Columbiana County, Ohio Route 11 reaches East Liverpool, picking up US Route 30. Ohio Route 11's expressway carries US Route 30 to the West Virginia state line via a bridge over the Ohio River. The "Ohio Route 11" designation ends on this bridge.
My photo of Ohio State Route 11 signage comes from Girard, Ohio, in the Youngstown area. A junction marker is depicted along US Route 422, where that route meets an interchange with the concurrency between Interstate 80 and Ohio Route 11. The signage faces southeast for travelers going northwestward can anticipate the upcoming junction involving both Interstate 80 and Ohio Route 11. This photo was taken during a detour through the Youngstown area on my way back from Virginia in April 2021.
