^Looking north from the Wisconsin border, December 2017.
Michigan Highway 73 is a short designation near Wisconsin's border with the Upper Peninsula. It is meant to connect Wisconsin Highway 55 to US Route 2 at Iron River. The highway runs northeast-southwest, with the northeastern end at US Route 2 in Iron River. From the southwestern end of Michigan Highway 73, Wisconsin Highway 55 runs south to Crandon, Wisconsin, and beyond.
My photo of Michigan Highway 73 shows the first northbound reassurance marker at the Wisconsin state border. In taking this photo, I was standing right at the state border looking north into the Upper Peninsula. Wisconsin Highway 55 was right behind me. This photo was taken during an impromptu trip across northern Wisconsin, with slight forays into the Upper Peninsula, on an unusually pleasant weekend in early December, 2017.
