Indiana State Route 930 is a remnant of US Route 30 through Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne is completely surrounded by a ring of freeways, with Interstate 69 on the west side, and Interstate 469 comprising the rest of that ring. US Route 30 was rerouted onto the freeways around the north side of the ring, as an indication to thru trucks that they should go around the city, rather than through it. Still, Indiana Route 930 was created to maintain a state highway into the city from the east and from the west. INDOT also maintains a north-south highway through Fort Wayne for urban access to and from the north and south; that highway is US Route 27. The western end is where US Route 30 meets Interstate 69, and the eastern end is where US Route 30 continues east off of Interstate 469.
My photo for Indiana State Route 930 is the western junction marker approaching its eastern end. US Route 30 is shown in the photo, which faces west; heading into the photo, US Route 30 turns right onto Interstate 469 north as Indiana Route 930 takes over as the designation farther west into Fort Wayne. Interestingly, there is no junction marker for Interstate 469 next to the one in the photo, though Interstate 469 is indeed just ahead as well. This photo was taken on Leap Day in 2016!
