Ohio State Route 709 is a short east-west highway in southern Van Wert County. It runs from Ohio City to Venedocia, crossing US Route 127 along the way. The western end in Ohio City is at Ohio Route 118. From there Ohio Route 709 runs along the main east-west drag through town, jogging north at the east edge of the municipal limits. The jog is short-lived, and Ohio Route 709 sets out toward the east, crossing US Route 127. The east end is about 9 miles east of Ohio City and 7 miles east of US Route 127, at Ohio Route 116 on the south side of Venedocia.
My photo for Ohio Route 709 shows the eastbound trailblazer seen by those leaving the 4-way intersection with US Route 127. Those turning toward the east off of US Route 127 will see this scene, and this trailblazer. This photo was taken in September 2017, as I was heading north on US Route 127 on a convoluted route home from Columbus.
