Ohio State Route 656 is a short highway in central Ohio that runs northeast-southwest. The southwestern beginning is at Ohio Route 61 north of Sunbury; this is northeast of the Columbus area. Ohio Route 656 leaves from this point of beginning to get even farther away from Columbus, heading for Sparta. In Sparta, Ohio Route 656 crosses Ohio Route 314 just before ending at Ohio Route 229.
My photo for Ohio Route 656 comes from its junction with Ohio Route 521, very near the southwestern end at Ohio Route 61. This intersection hosts the eastern end of Ohio Route 521, and the signpost on the right is supposed to be an end marker; the Ohio Route 521 shield was stolen. This photo looks east at a sign indicating to those on Ohio Route 521 that turning will put them on Ohio Route 656. This photo was taken in October 2022, as I was heading toward northeastern Ohio from Columbus.
