​​Michigan Highway 88 is a short northwest-southwest highway in a scenic northwestern portion of Lower Michigan.  It runs northwest from Mancelona to Eastport, passing through Bellaire and Central Lake along the way.  The southeastern end in downtown Mancelona is at a concurrency carrying US Route 131 and Michigan Highway 66.  From there, Michigan Highway 88 zigzags westerly and northerly across Antrim County.  Michigan Highway 88 is the only state highway to reach Bellaire, the county seat of Antrim County.  The northwestern end in Eastport is at US Route 31, very near Lake Michigan waters.

My photo of Michigan Highway 88 signage comes from the southeastern terminus of the route in Mancelona.  The signage shown here tells northbound travelers on US Route 131 and Michigan Highway 66 about their options.  A left turn onto the western egress from the intersection will put these northbound travelers on Michigan Highway 88. This photo was taken in early August 2022, on the way home from (the Upper Peninsula and) Alpena.
