Ohio State Route 589 is a fairly short north-south highway in west-central Ohio. It exists in Miami and Shelby Counties. The southern end is in Casstown, a tiny town just east of Troy, in Miami County. This southern end of Ohio Route 589 is marked by its junction with Ohio Route 55. From this junction, Ohio Route 589 runs north to US Route 36. At Fletcher, the route begins to jog easterly on a concurrency with US Route 36, before Ohio Route 589 turns northerly away from this US highway. Here, Ohio Route 589 enters its second half, a very rural route that ends at Ohio Route 29. This northern end is in a rural spot in eastern Shelby County.
My photo for Ohio Route 589 comes from the northern end at Ohio Route 29, in eastern Shelby County. The signage depicted faces east for westbound travelers on Ohio Route 29 who are heading toward Sidney. Ohio Route 589 begins to the left, or toward the south. This photo was taken in June 2016, on a drive home from Columbus.
