Michigan Highway 71 is a short northwest-southwest route from Owosso to Durand, in the portion of Michigan between Lansing and Flint. The southeastern end of Michigan Highway 71 is at Interstate 96, where Durand meets Vernon. Michigan Highway 71 heads northwest from there through Corunna to Owosso. Its northwestern end is at Michigan Highway 21, just east of Michigan Highway 52, in Owosso.

Westbound travelers can now understand that the next left turn is the way to start out on Michigan Highway 71.
