Ohio State Route 142 runs from London to West Jefferson to Interstate 70, in Madison County. The route begins at the center of London, at Ohio Route 56; at this central intersection, Ohio Route 38 passes through, and Ohio Route 665 gets started toward the east. US Route 42 also passes through, and Ohio Route 142 starts along US Route 42 to the east-northeast. After a few blocks, US Route 42 bends to true northeast, whereas Ohio Route 142 continues east-northeasterly to aim straight toward West Jefferson. In West Jefferson, Ohio Route 142 joins US Route 40 east for a short period. Ohio Route 142 then jumps northerly away from US Route 40 to end at an interchange with Interstate 70.
My photo of Ohio State Route 142 comes from the northward piece of the route as it departs from its concurrency with US Route 40 in West Jefferson. Travelers turning northward from US Route 40 onto Ohio Route 142 will see this scene and this trailblazer in the photograph shown here. This photo was taken in October 2016 as I was on my way to Columbus, Ohio, which lies just to the east of this scene.
