Ohio State Route 196 is a fairly short north-south route found southeast of Lima, or east of Wapakoneta. A trip to southeastern Allen County or eastern Auglaize County might lead you to happen upon this route. The northern end is at Ohio Route 117, about six miles southeast of Lima. After six miles of running straight toward the south, Ohio Route 196 joins Ohio Route 67 east for a short distance. After this jog eastward along Ohio Route 67, Ohio Route 196 proceeds toward the south again for another three miles. The south end of Ohio Route 196 is at a 4-way intersection home to the western end of Ohio Route 385. The other two legs of the intersection are occupied by US Route 33, which makes a turn here at New Hampshire, Ohio.
