Ohio State Route 143 connects the US Route 50 corridor of Vinton County to US Route 33 in Meigs County. It runs northwest-southeast. The route serves as a shortcut between Vinton County and the Middlepoint-Pomeroy area along the Ohio River. The northwestern end is at US Route 50 just barely west of where that route converges Ohio Route 32. It follows that Ohio Route 143's first course of action is to pass southerly through a junction with Ohio Route 32, just southwest of Albany. Overall, Ohio Route 143 spends about 20 miles winding southwesterly through rural hill country. Having passed through no towns, Ohio Route 143 ends at US Route 33 near Middleport. Note that US Route 33 is also concurrent with Ohio Route 7 and Ohio Route 124 at this point.
My photo of Ohio State Route 143 comes from the northwestern end of the route at US Route 50. Travelers looking toward the west will use the sign in the photograph to locate the left turn onto the northwestern beginning of Ohio Route 143. This photo was taken in March 2021 as I was touring around the southeastern quarter of Ohio.
