Ohio State Route 690 is a very short north-south highway in a hilly part of Athens County, in southeastern Ohio. This five-mile road extends north from a point along US Route 50 just east of Athens. After its short journey of flanking the east side of Strouds Run State Park, it ends at Ohio Route 550, which can carry travelers onward to Amesville, just to the northeast.
My photo for Ohio Route 690 shows the first northbound trailblazer, which is seen by travelers turning off of US Route 50. The southern beginning is shown in this photo, which looks north from the intersection with US Route 50. This photo was taken in April 2021, as I was on the way to Virginia by way of Athens, Ohio, and Charleston, West Virginia. This is not an ideal photo, as the sign assembly depicted was struck by a car, leading it to lean away from me as I stood and took the photo.
