Ohio State Route 562, known as the Norwood Lateral Expressway, is a short east-west expressway in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. It provides a fast, limited-access connection between Interstates 75 and 71, near Norwood, the namesake of the highway. The western end is at Interstate 75. Between that point and the west end at Interstate 71, Ohio Route 562 has three full interchanges: a diamond interchange with Ohio Route 4, a diamond interchange with US Route 42, and a sort-of half-folded diamond with Norwood Avenue and Wesley Avenue. This last intermediate interchange with Norwood and Wesley Avenues is used to tangentially access Montgomery Road, which carries US Route 22, Ohio Route 3, and Ohio Route 561. Ohio Route 562's last recourse is to continue beyond this interchange to its eastern end, at a modified trumpet interchange with Interstate 71 that also provides access to Ridge Avenue, and by extension, the surface streets.
My photo for Ohio Route 562 signage comes from Montgomery Road, which carries US Route 22, Ohio Route 3, and Ohio Route 561. In fact, my Ohio Route 561 sign was taken across the street from this one. The aperture looks south on Montgomery Road toward its bridge over Ohio Route 562, and its intersection with Norwood Avenue. Norwood Avenue can take travelers east a block to an interchange with Ohio Route 562, and that's what this guide marker aims to mention. This photo was taken in October 2018, during my drive around southwestern Ohio.
