^Looking west from Indiana 1 and Indiana 101 in Brookville, August 2024.
US Route 52 in Indiana runs northwest-southeast, from the Illinois border near Kentland, to Lafayette, Indianapolis, and the Cincinnati area. The Illinois border crossing, marking US Route 52's westernmost extent in Indiana, is concurrent with US Route 24 just west of Kentland. From there, US Route 52 heads southeast through Lafayette, then joining a series of Interstates that take it around the Indianapolis area. After those concurrencies on Interstates 65, 865, and 465, US Route 52 continues southeast beyond the Indianapolis area to cross into Ohio, jumping onto Interstate 74 at the last minute to form a joint crossing of the border. This border crossing is at Harrison, Ohio, about fifteen miles west of Cincinnati.
My photo for US Route 52 in Indiana was taken in Fowler, along the start of a three-way concurrency. The aperture was facing southeast when taking this photo, showing a trio of trailblazers facing traffic on US Route 52 heading out of Fowler. The roadway in the photo, as you can see, carries not only US Route 52, but also Indiana Routes 18 and 55. Back to the Indiana main page. Back to the home page.
