Indiana State Route 933 is an "L" shaped route in the South Bend and Elkhart areas. The northern end is the Michigan border, where Indiana Route 933 continues the path created by Michigan Route 51 into South Bend. In the heart of South Bend, Indiana Route 933 turns easterly, passing through Mishawaka and Osceola to end at the county line. It appears that either Elkhart or Elkhart County didn't want the state to maintain the route any farther east, into their jurisdiction. Indiana Route 933 is numbered as such because it was once part of US Route 33, before it was truncated to the southeast.
My photo of Indiana Route 933 is the first southbound trailblazer for traffic crossing from Michigan into Indiana. The state border is right behind where I was standing to take this photo. This is at the northernmost extent of St. Joseph, just north of the Indiana Toll Road (Interstates 80 and 90). Back to the Indiana main page. Back to the home page.
