Ohio State Route 342 is a short east-west route through the hills northeast of Cambridge, Ohio. It begins in southwestern Harrison County, in a small town called Freeport; this point of beginning is at Ohio Route 800. From there, Ohio Route 342 winds its way westerly through the hills for five miles. It barely pokes into Tuscarawas County as it ends at Ohio Route 258; most traffic will continue westerly along Ohio Route 258 toward Newcomerstown.
My photo of Ohio Route 342 signage comes from a point one block of the eastern end in Freeport. After Ohio Route 342 traverses its first block-long segment, it turns northerly for one block to jog to another street running out of town. This photo looks west at the guide marker telling drivers that Ohio Route 342 turns right to jog northerly for one block. This photo was taken in March 2021, toward the tail end of my tour around southeastern Ohio. Back to Ohio Routes 300-499. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
