^Looking south from the Michigan State Line, December 2021.
Indiana State Route 39 runs north-south along the western edge of what I'd consider central and north-central Indiana. It begins on a road carrying traffic south out of New Buffalo, Michigan, which becomes Michigan Highway 239 and then Indiana State Route 39 as it crosses the state line. Then, it heads south through LaPorte and Monticello before picking up a long concurrency with US Route 421. At Frankfort, Indiana, US Route 421 finally departs to the east, and Indiana State Route 39 continues south independently through Lebanon and Danville to end in Martinsville at Interstate 69 and Indiana Route 37.
My photo for Indiana State Route 39 is at the northern split with US Route 35 on the north side of LaPorte. The sign assembly depicted faces south at the fork. It's interesting to see that the directions toward each the Interstate 94 freeway and the Indiana Toll Road, two highways that run east-west to the north, are pointing in different directions at this junction.
