Ohio State Route 231 runs north-south where central Ohio meets north-central Ohio. The northern end is in the center of Tiffin. At that point, Ohio Route 18 and Ohio Route 101 are duplexed on a pair of east-west streets, and Ohio Route 100 runs north-south. Ohio Route 231 begins following Ohio Route 100 south, and soon, Ohio Route 100 continues by splitting toward the southeast. Ohio Route 231 is left to continue due south out of town and out of Seneca County. Soon, it enters Wyandot County and reaches Sycamore. Sycamore is where Ohio Route 231 begins a short jog east on Ohio Route 103. Once the jog is complete, Ohio Route 231 continues south along the eastern edge of Wyandot County. It meets US Route 30 at Nevada, Ohio. As it reaches Ohio Route 294, it begins to curl southwesterly, then westerly to end in Morral. Ohio Route 231 ends unceremoniously at the railroad grade crossing in the center of the town of Morral; this is not a link to any other numbered highway.
My photo for Ohio State Route 231 comes from its junction with Ohio Route 423, just southwest of its junction with US Route 23. This is the point where Ohio Route 231 bends from southwesterly to westerly. The terminus of Ohio Route 231 in Morral is just west of this spot. Travelers on Ohio Route 423 heading northward will see this guide marker showing that turning in either direction will put them on Ohio Route 231. Ohio Route 423 ends by turning northeasterly on Ohio Route 231 to the final destination of the interchange with US Route 23. This photo was taken in October 2016, as I was detouring north from West Virginia to Toledo. Back to Ohio Routes 200-299. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
