Ohio State Route 162 is a long east-west route, heading west out of Akron to portions of Seneca County. Ohio Route 162 begins at Ohio Route 18, where it reaches the portion of Ohio Route 59 using the Innerbelt. Ohio Route 162 uses Copley Road heading west out of Akron. It parallels Ohio Route 18 to the south, opting for less populated areas than those reached by Ohio Route 18, like Fairlawn and Medina. Ohio Route 162 bypasses those cities to the south. Beyond that, Ohio Route 162 stays rural, though it meets a few small towns, like Spencer, New London, Fitchville, and North Fairfield. At Republic, Ohio, Ohio Route 18 dives in from the north to take over as the westward route out of town; this cuts off Ohio Route 162 to end it. Republic, Ohio, is in eastern Seneca County. Note that both ends of Ohio Route 162 are at Ohio Route 18; Ohio Route 162 can be seen as a rural, southern alternate to the other route.
