^Looking west from Ohio Route 850 in Rodney, April 2025.
Ohio State Route 588 is an east-west route in Gallia County. It runs from Rio Grande to Gallipolis, paralleling US Route 35 to the south. The western end, in Rio Grande, is at Ohio Route 325, just barely south of Ohio Route 325's interchange with US Route 35. The eastern end is at Ohio Route 7 in Gallipolis, near the Ohio River. This short route is near the far southeastern edge of the State of Ohio.
An older photo for Ohio Route 588 once took center stage on this page, but that photo has been replaced by a newer, better photo. This newer photo appears next, but the older photo is still visible at the bottom of this page.
My official photo for Ohio Route 588 shows a westbound trailblazer seen by travelers who are leaving the town of Gallipolis. This is a mile or so west of the eastern end of Ohio Route 588 at Ohio Route 7. This photo was taken in April 2025, on a trip whose main objective was to drive every last mile of US Route 35. I took a slight detour from US Route 35 to check out Ohio Route 588.
The older photo of Ohio Route 588 signage appears below.
My older photo for Ohio Route 588 comes from the eastern end in Gallipolis, at the junction with Ohio Route 7. From this junction, Ohio Route 588 runs westerly down State Street. The aperture, like the drivers reading the signage, faces south at the depicted sign assembly, showing people that Ohio Route 588 begins toward the right. This photo was taken in March, 2021, during the grand tour of southeastern Ohio.
