Ohio State Route 698 is a short north-south route southwest of Findlay, in Hancock County. The southern end of Ohio Route 698 is at Ohio Route 103, east of Interstate 75 and Bluffton. Ohio Route 698 runs north from there, immediately passing through the small town of Jenera. For six miles, Ohio Route 698 runs straight north beyond Jenera to abruptly end in the middle of nowhere. The ending of Ohio Route 698 is not at any highway that is currently numbered; it ends at an old alignment of US Route 25, the route that got replaced by Interstate 75. This is a few miles southwest of Findlay.
My photo for Ohio Route 698 comes from the northern end of the route, at the intersection with the road that once carried US Route 25. Despite the signage shown in the photo, there is no ramp to Interstate 75 northbound here; I think a "to" banner is supposed to be stuck on top of that Interstate guide sign. But in any case, this photo looks northeast down the old US Route 25 at a guide marker for Ohio Route 698 that points to the right. It says that northeastward travelers can make a sharp right turn onto southbound Ohio Route 698. This photo was taken in October 2022, on the way home from a stay in Ashland that concluded my tour around northeastern Ohio (though this route and this photo hail from northwestern Ohio).
