^Looking east from Interstate 196, which forms the western end of M-89, December 2021.
Michigan Highway 89 is an east-west highway in near-southwest Michigan (just barely south of what I'd call "east-central Michigan"). Michigan Highway 89 connects the towns of Fennville, Allegan, Plainwell, Richland, and Battle Creek, carving a route that overall angles toward the east-southeast. The western end of Michigan Highway 89 is near Douglas and Saugatuck, at the freeway carrying Interstate 196 and US Route 31. The eastern end is at the corner of Washington Street and Dickman Road in Battle Creek; Dickman Road carries the business loop of Interstate 94 through Battle Creek.
My photo for Michigan Highway 89 is the first eastbound reassurance marker discovered by eastbound travelers on the route. Those leaving Interstate 196 for Michigan Highway 89 will soon see this sign after turning to the east. Saugatuck and Douglas lie just to the north of this site, and Fennville lies just to the east. This photo was taken on the way home from Grand Rapids one day in December, 2021.
Here are some more photos of scenes along Michigan Highway 89 (yes, all of them were taken in winter):
