Ohio State Route 585 is a state highway running northeast out of Wooster toward Akron. The entire route lies within Wayne County, except for a very short foray into the southwestern corner of Summit County. The southwestern end of Ohio Route 585 is at a freeway bypassing the east side of Wooster, which carries Ohio Route 3 and Ohio Route 83. The northeastern end of the highway is an interchange with Ohio Route 21, which takes the form of an expressway, near Barberton. Ohio Route 585 bypasses Doylestown at its most northeasterly stretch; the northeastern two miles take the form of a rural divided expressway.
My photo for Ohio Route 585 shows a pair of guide markers on Eastern Road, a local road meeting the state highway at an RCUT intersection. Travelers wishing to continue on Eastern Road must turn right onto Ohio Route 585, then make a U-turn. This type of intersection heavily favors traffic on the major roadway, where most users on the minor roadway are assumed to turn onto or off of the major roadway. This intersection is found within the final northeastern mile of Ohio Route 585, near the northeastern end at Ohio Route 21. This photo was taken looking eastward, late on an October evening in 2022, as I was making my way from Columbus to Akron and other points in northeastern Ohio.
