^The northern end marker for US Route 27, as seen by those driving northward in Fort Wayne toward the interchange with Interstate 69, October 2022.
US Route 27 in Indiana runs north-south in the eastern part of the state, from Fort Wayne south to a diagonal southeast portion cutting into Ohio north of Cincinnati. Indiana is the northernmost state traversed by any part of US Route 27. US Route 27 begins at Interstate 69 on the north side of Fort Wayne, passes through downtown Fort Wayne, and heads south through Richmond. Then, at a town called Liberty south of Richmond, US Route 27 diverts southeasterly toward Oxford, Ohio, crossing the state line.
