​Ohio State Route 638 is a very short north-south highway connecting Belle Center to Bellefontaine, Ohio, by way of US Route 68.  You see, the southern extent splits from US Route 68, which carries travelers on Ohio Route 638 the rest of the way to Bellefontaine.  Ohio Route 638 does reach Belle Center at the northern end, though, ending at Ohio Route 273.  Beyond the southern end, at US Route 68, Bellefontaine lies another 4 to 5 miles to the south.

Travelers in US Route 68's northbound lane will use this guide marker to identify the point where Ohio Route 638 splits off to the left.  This photo was taken on Leap Day, 2016, as I was making my northwestward from Columbus toward my homeland in northeastern Illinois.
