Iowa Route 83 is a fairly short east-west highway in west-central Iowa. It runs through Avoca, Walnut, Atlantic, and Anita, just barely south of Interstate 80.  The west end in Avoca is at US Route 59, and the east end is at Iowa Route 148 in Anita.

My photo of Iowa Route 83 is the western end marker, posted alongside a junction marker for US Route 59.  At this intersection in Avoca, Iowa Route 83 meets US Route 59 but refrains from continuing any further west.  Traffic heading west on Iowa Route 83 will encounter this signage, which was photographed as I traveled down the Interstate 80 corridor in February 2016. I only had to deviate from Interstate 80 by one mile to get this picture.
