^Looking west from the eastern end at US Route 131, August 2022.
Michigan Highway 222 is a short east-west highway between Allegan and Martin, in southwestern Michigan. Michigan Highway 222 is situated north of Kalamazoo, but south of Grand Rapids. It stems westward from US Route 131 to Allegan, ten miles to the west. The eastern end at US Route 131 is near the town of Martin, Michigan. The western end in Allegan is at a concurrency comprised of Michigan Highway 89 and Michigan Highway 40.
My photo of Michigan Highway 222 comes from its eastern end at US Route 131, near Martin. The signage in this photograph is the first westbound reassurance marker seen by travelers starting out on the state highway, who exited from US Route 131 to reach this point. This photo was taken at the end of my trip to the Upper Peninsula in Alpena, in early August, 2022.
