Ohio State Route 344 is a short east-west route used for reaching Leetonia, in east-central Ohio. Leetonia is in the middle of the route, which extends east to Columbiana and west to Salem. While conjecture tells us that the route can therefore be used to get from Salem to Columbiana, most travelers with that goal are using Ohio Route 14, a more direct route just to the north of Ohio Route 344. Ohio Route 344 can kind of be considered a business route for Ohio Route 14. The western end of Ohio Route 344 is in Salem, at a piece of Ohio Route 14 duplexed with Ohio Route 9. The eastern extent is concurrent with Ohio Route 164 as it ends at the central intersection of Columbiana.
My photo of Ohio Route 344 depicts an eastbound trailblazer seen by travelers leaving the interchange with Ohio Route 11. The intersection where Ohio Route 164 joins from the south is visible in the background. As the signage indicates, Columbiana is just another mile to the east, into the background of the photo. This photo was taken during the grand tour of northeastern Ohio in October 2022. Back to Ohio Routes 300-499. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
