Ohio State Route 259 is a very short route on the southeast side of New Philadelphia, Ohio. It spends four miles running southeast out of New Philadelphia, then cutting westerly and southerly over a bridge across the Tuscarawas River. The northern end in New Philadelphia occurs along Ohio Route 39, about six blocks east of Ohio Routes 800 and 416. Ohio Route 259 gets started at this point, moving southeasterly on High Avenue. Right when it passes through an interchange with US Route 250, Ohio Route 259 turns westerly to cut to a southerly bridge across the Tuscarawas River. At the south side of this bridge, Ohio Route 259 ends at Ohio Route 416.
My photo of signage for Ohio State Route 259 shows a junction marker along Ohio Route 39. As travelers move easterly through New Philadelphia on Ohio Route 39, they will see this sign in the photo, alerting them of the upcoming junction with Ohio Route 259's northern end. This photo was taken in October 2022, as part of the tour around northeastern Ohio. Back to Ohio Routes 200-299. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
