Michigan Highway 116 provides access from Ludington to Ludington State Park's beach, running along the eastern shores of Lake Michigan. Ludington is in west-central Michigan, and it is where US Route 10 boards a ferry to Manitowoc, Wisconsin. The southern end of Michigan Highway 116 is in downtown Ludington at US Route 10. The northern end is simply the entrance booth into Ludington State Park.
My photo of Michigan Highway 116 comes from its starting point in Ludington. The signage depicted sits on Ludington Avenue, the main east-west street in Ludington. Ludington Avenue carries US Route 10 west, until US Route 10 turns south toward the ferry dock. Michigan Highway 116 picks up on Ludington Avenue where US Route 10 left off, and the signage depicted indicates to westbound travelers that this is the case. This photo was taken in March 2018 on the way to Traverse City.
