Indiana State Route 62 is an important east-west route across southern Indiana. It gets its start as Illinois Route 141 crosses into Indiana on the southernmost bridge over the Wabash River, heading through Mount Vernon into Evansville. Indiana Route 62 leaves Evansville with a northeasterly tilt, meeting the Interstate 64 corridor and following that freeway closely until the Louisville area. Indiana Route 62 then follows Interstate 265 around the north side of the Louisville area, and splits northeasterly through Madison to end at US Route 50 at Dillsboro.
