Ohio State Route 147 connects Caldwell to Bellaire, where southeastern Ohio meets east-central Ohio. The route overall runs east-west, though heading west toward the western extent will have you bending toward the south. The eastern end of Ohio Route 147 is at Ohio Route 7 on the south side of Bellaire, a town on the Ohio River that lies just south of Wheeling, West Virginia (and Bridgeport, Ohio). Ohio Route 149 also begins in Bellaire and heads west, but it runs through areas just to the north of Ohio Route 147. Ohio Route 147 converges with Ohio Route 149 in Belmont, but a brief concurrency shared between the two routes ends shortly after its inception, sending Ohio Route 149 ricocheting off toward the north. Ohio Route 147 continues westward to Bethesda and Barnesville. Beyond Barnesville, Ohio Route 147 heads southwesterly, navigating around the south side of Senecaville Lake. At Sarahville, Ohio Route 147 bends southerly onto its final stretch so it can access Ohio Route 78 just east of Caldwell. Its T-intersection at Ohio Route 78 marks the end of Ohio Route 147.
My photo of Ohio State Route 147 comes from its junction with Ohio Route 379 at Baileys Mills, an unincorporated place a few miles southwest of Barnesville. Approching from the northeast, the split sends Ohio Route 147 off to the right while Ohio Route 379 gets started off to the left (south). This photo shows the westbound trailblazer to those leaving the junction toward the west, and it was taken during the tour around the southeastern quarter of Ohio in March 2021.
