^Looking south from Exit 357 near the Michigan state line, July 2023.
Interstate 69 in Indiana is planned to draw a diagonal from Indiana's northeast corner to its southwest corner. The section in the northeast half of the state, from Indianapolis to Fort Wayne into Michigan, has been completed for decades. A massive extension to the southwest is planned, and much of the highway from Indianapolis to Evansville is completed. However, the section from Bloomington to Indianapolis is still under construction. Overall, the route, when completed, will extend from Evansville north past Petersburg, Washington, Bloomington, and Martinsville, to meet Interstate 465 on the south side of Indianapolis; after joining the Interstate 465 beltway around Indianapolis, the long-standing Interstate 69 northeast of there keeps going as it has for decades, to Fort Wayne and the Michigan border just west of Indiana's northeast corner.
This page focuses on the long-established section of Interstate 69 in Indiana, from Indianapolis northeast to Fort Wayne and beyond, into Michigan. This section northeast of Indianapolis is labeled with mile markers from 200 to 357 (Interstate 69 gets just shy of 358 miles in Indiana). Exits on this page will be listed from south to north, in accordance with the national standard for mile and exit numbering.
Interstate 69, when completed, will have a section concurrent with Interstate 465 around the east side of Indianapolis. Then, on the northeast side of Indianapolis, Interstate 69 will start its independent journey into northeast Indiana the same way that it already does, at exit 37 from Interstate 465. Indiana Route 37 also joins Interstate 69 from Interstate 465, so the southern part of Interstate 69's northern segment here also carries the Indiana Route 37 designation.
