Ohio State Route 279 runs east-west across southern Jackson County, slightly poking eastward into Gallia County. The eastern end of Ohio Route 279 is at US Route 35; in Thurman, it splits from a westward US Route 35 which diverts northwesterly at this point. Ohio Route 279 then takes vehicles through Thurman toward Oak Hill to the west. Ohio Route 279 jogs southerly on Ohio Route 93 in Oak Hill, then continues west to Ohio Route 139. The western endpoint of Ohio Route 279 occurs at this junction with Ohio Route 139 in the southwestern corner of Jackson County.
My photo of Ohio Route 279 shows the eastbound trailblazer on the part of the route stemming east from Ohio Route 93, in Oak Hill. Ohio Route 279 comes from the east to join Ohio Route 93 south in Oak Hill; this creates two separate intersection points where the two routes meet. This photo looks east from the northern junction between Ohio Route 279 and Ohio Route 93. I had to wait for the rain to stop in order to take this photo in March 2021, along the grand tour of southeastern Ohio. Back to Ohio Routes 200-299. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
