^Signage along Ohio 795 pointing out the onramp to I-280 northbound, October 2016.
Interstate 280 is a freeway bypass around the east side of Toledo, from the Ohio Turnpike north to Interstate 75. The southern end at the Ohio Turnpike (Interstates 80 and 90) is near Stony Ridge; the freeway extends a little farther south to US Route 20, as a surface highway labeled as Ohio Route 420. The north end is on the northeast side of Toledo at an interchange with Interstate 75, but this interchange is well clear of downtown. Interstate 280 is a shortcut for those looking for an express route wrapping around the west side of Lake Erie.
As with all of the Ohio Interstate pages, more information and a full exit list will come in the future. For now, enjoy this general information and a photo of the signage, in a similar fashion to how I do the state and US highway pages.
My photo of Interstate 280 signage in Ohio shows a unique freeway entrance marker seen along Ohio Route 795. The folded diamond interchange home to this signage is the first intermediate interchange along Interstate 280 north of its southern end. This sign is observed by those turning off of Ohio Route 795 onto the northbound entrance ramp to Interstate 280. These freeway entrance markers with the downward diagonal arrows are very unusual in the Midwest; they are most common in the West Coast states. Anyway, this photo was taken in October 2016 during a detour to the Toledo area.
