Ohio State Route 46 is a north-south highway that parallels the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. At its northern end, Ohio Route 46 splits from Ohio Route 11 just south of Interstate 90 and the city of Ashtabula. Ohio Route 46 then parallels the Ohio Route 11 freeway to the west, as a surface road. After a stint as a mainly rural route, Ohio Route 46 passes through Cortland and the east side of Warren. It passes through some western suburbs of Youngstown, like Niles and Canfield. After leaving Canfield, Ohio Route 46 begins to wrap around the south side of Youngstown, ending up as an easterly route in its final moments. The route ends at Ohio Route 170 in East Palestine, just shy of the Pennsylvania border.
My photo of Ohio State Route 46 comes from Austintown, just west of Youngstown. This northbound trailblazer in the photo lies just south of Interstate 80. This photo was taken in October 2019, on the way home from a trip to Nova Scotia and Maine, of all places! This is the only Ohio route marker photo I took as part of that trip. Back to Ohio Routes 1 through 99. Back to the Ohio main page. Back to the home page.
