^Looking east from the intersection with M-15 near Reese, April 2021.
Michigan Highway 81 is a route heading east out of Saginaw to reach a few small towns on the "Thumb" of the Lower Peninsula. The western end of Michigan Highway 81 is a split from Michigan Highway 13 on the east side of Saginaw. Michigan Highway 81's eastern journey begins, soon heading through an interchange with Interstate 75. Michigan Highway 81 parallels Michigan Highway 46 a few miles to the north through Reese, and then it bends northeasterly through Caro. The northeasterly angle continues until Michigan Highway 81's final easterly miles through Cass City. Just beyond Cass City, Michigan Highway 81 ends at an intersection with Michigan Highway 53.
My photo of Michigan Highway 81 is an eastbound reassurance marker that faces west toward the intersection of Michigan Highway 81 and Michigan Highway 15. This intersection is between Saginaw and Reese. I took this photo along the trip to Metro Detroit and the Michigan Thumb in April 2021.
