^Looking west on US Route 20 from Indiana Route 15, south of Bristol, March 2022.
US Route 20 crosses through the northernmost row of counties in Indiana. In northwestern Indiana, US Route 20 enters the state from Chicago concurrent with US Routes 12 and 41, then runs east through Gary to the south side of Michigan City. From Michigan City east, US Route 20 is either the northernmost major surface highway or a freeway flanking the south side of South Bend and Elkhart.
My photo of US Route 20 in Indiana comes from the junction with Indiana Route 13 in Middlebury, Indiana. The sign assembly depicted is the westbound trailblazer leading traffic west away from the intersection. This photo was taken on the way home from Kalamazoo, Michigan; after driving the southern extent of US Route 131, a closed interchange forced me to take a detour away from the Indiana Toll Road. The Indiana Toll Road, carrying Interstates 80 and 90, lies several miles to the north of this photo's location. This photo was snapped in March, 2022. Back to the Indiana main page.
