Ohio State Route 644 is a short route that hugs the southwestern edge of Columbiana County, in east-central Ohio. The northern end of the route is at a four-way intersection near Hanoverton, Ohio; Ohio Route 9 and US Route 30 both pass through this intersection. US Route 30 comes from the west leg to join Ohio Route 9, which came from the south, north; this leaves Ohio Route 644 to get started down the east leg. The route turns southeasterly, and overall maintains a southeasterly to southerly course for about 11 miles. Along the way, Ohio Route 644 serves the small town of Salineville. The southern end is at Ohio Route 39 in Salineville, at a junction several blocks west of Ohio Route 164.
My photo for Ohio Route 644 comes from the southern end in Salineville. Travelers turning off of Ohio Route 39 onto Ohio Route 644 will see this scene and this trailblazer as soon as they become oriented toward the north. This photo was taken in October 2022, during my exhaustive tour of the northeastern quarter of Ohio.
