Ohio State Route 554 is a winding east-west route in southeastern Ohio. It runs for twenty miles in northern Gallia County, connecting Cheshire to Rio Grande. The western end is on the north side of Rio Grande, at a junction with Ohio Route 325 that is just barely north of US Route 35. Ohio Route 554 runs northeasterly, and then easterly. Suddenly, within a few miles of Cheshire, Ohio Route 554 dives southwesterly to end at Ohio Route 7 in the town of Cheshire.
My photo for Ohio Route 554 shows the first eastbound trailblazer on a rainy day in March, 2021. My grand tour of the southeastern quarter of Ohio sent me up the US Route 35 corridor; deviating northward by a few hundred feet on Ohio Route 325 put me at the western beginning of Ohio Route 554. This photo looks eastward at that western beginning of the route.
