Illinois Route 176 is an east-west route in Lake and McHenry Counties, in the northern and northwestern suburbs of Chicago. It connects many of the small towns strewn along the various lakes in the region.

Illinois 176's eastern end is at a point that also serves as the southern ending of Illinois 131. Though Illinois 176 ends here, the only other way out of this intersection along a state DOT-maintained highway is to the north along Illinois 131.
